Dead Island debuts with stunning trailer

From little known developer Techland comes an amazing trailer for a game you probably have never heard of. Do you like zombies? Of course you do. Get ready for some seriously gruesome zombie action in this trailer for Dead Island.

Set on the tropical island of Banoi in Papua New Guinea, the player is in control of a vacationer at the Royal Palms Resort when a zombie outbreak occurs. Along with a handful of other survivors, the player must fight through hords of infected to escape the island. The game is described as a ”first-person zombie-slasher/action-RPG” based around purely melee combat. According to the IGN preview, the game is heavily story based and is meant to be played cooperatively with up to 4 players.

Outside of the previously mentioned preview, precious little is known about the game. It was originally announced in 2007, and not a peep has been heard about it until now. All that can really be said at this point is that if the craft that went into the trailer is also at work in the actual game, we may be in for quite a treat. Expectations have been set very high. Seriously, watch this trailer– but be warned, there is some gruesome stuff in here.

Dead Island is set for a release in 2011 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Further details and screenshots can be found through the source link below.

I was reading about this trailer in Twitter all day, and I did not expect it to live up to expectations…but holy crap, it’s awesome.

It’s formulaic, but still totally sweet.
