Pokemon Black Version 2 and White Version 2 announced

Is Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition just not enough Pokemon for you this year? If so, Nintendo has fortunately announced two new (though likely more conventional) titles in the franchise titled “Pokemon Black Version 2” and “Pokemon White Version 2” in the United States. As the names suggest, they seem to be direct sequels to the previously released Black & White games and will fall in line with the others by being released on the original Nintendo DS.

Considering most main-line Pokemon titles have followed a similar trend in the past with two marquee titles and one follow-up per generation (Red and Blue + Yellow, Gold and Silver + Crystal, Ruby and Sapphire + Emerald, etc), this new development of a direct numbered sequel brings up a lot of unanswered questions. While details are scant, a Japanese release in June suggests that we’ll learn more about Black Version 2 and White Version 2 before too long.

[Update 2.27] Nintendo announced this morning that Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2 will hit the states in the fall.

As the image says, all Nintendo is saying now is “Coming Soon!” Summer is probably a fair guess.

There is very little information about the release at the moment. Since this story went up, Nintendo has clarified that it will be heading to the States this fall though.
