Dragon’s Dogma gameplay trailer highlights choreographed action

Capcom has a lineup of big titles on the way this year as highlighted at the publishers recent Captivate press event. Among those games, Dragon’s Dogma is receiving comparatively little attention even though it is hitting shelves next month. The latest trailer for the game shows what can be expected from the combat in the RPG.

Dragon’s Dogma is being positioned as a western-style, open-world RPG made by a Japanese developers. On the surface, this sounds like it could be interesting, and the footage on display here shows a flare for combat that is often lacking in open-world games. In this gameplay trailer the main character is shown going all Legolas on foes, swinging off of bigger enemies and flinging smaller ones to be killed mid-air by an ally.

Capcom’s Monster Hunter-esq take on the Western RPG is set for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 22.

[Update] Capcom has announced that an official demo for Dragon’s Dogma will hit XBLA and PSN on April 24.
