Due to a little snafu earlier today (1, 2), here is an unprecedented second story on GTD for the day.

Sonic is returning to the kart racing scene this holiday. Sega announced that Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is on the way, and it will up the ante on vehicle types with the inclusion of planes and boats to the traditional sets of wheels. Sound familiar?

Vehicles will automatically transform mid-race as different areas of the course require. Sega has confirmed that number of new characters are being added to the mix, including Gilius Thunderhead of Golden Axe and Vyse from Skies of Arcadia. New mechanics are also on the way with “daring and stylish” racing offering an extra boost to All-star power.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is slated to hit Xbox 360, PS3, PC, PS Vita, and 3DS this holiday.
