E3 2012: Nintendo and the Wii U lineup

After hitting on many of the details surrounding the Wii U hardware a couple of days ago, Nintendo took the stage at E3 yesterday to talk about the software on the way for its new console.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata was flanked by Shigeru Miyamoto, Reggie Fils-Aime, and a few others were all on-stage to present the software lineup on the way for the Wii U, and a couple of 3DS titles. Ultimately, not too much new was shown over the company’s showing last year. Along with “23 titles,” Nintendo also confirmed that the usual suite of media streaming players will also be available.

Here’s the lin-up confirmed titles along with available trailers:

Wii U

  • New Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Paper Mario: Sticker Star
  • Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon
  • Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate

Other significant announcements that hit during the presentation include word that the system will support two Gamepads, incoming support for digital purchase transfers from Wii to Wii U, and Mass Effect 3 will hit as a launch title.
