Unity 4 coming with DirectX 11, Flash, and Linux support

Epic may have recently unveiled the latest Unreal Engine, but it’s not the only game in town. Unity has announced the latest version of its versatile game engine, and it also sports a “4″ in the title.

Unity 4 is now official, and much like Unreal Engine 4, it is set to make the process of creating game faster and easier with the integration of the new Mecanim animation suite. The latest version also brings support for a number of different platforms including DirectX 11, Flash, and Linux. Unity 4 also brings more mobile-centric upgrades that will make already good-looking Unity games even more beautiful.

The latest version is Unity is now available for pre-order, and more details are on the way at Unite 2012 developer conference in late August.
