Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut and Skyrim: Dawnguard DLC now available

We are square in the summer months, and that traditionally means a lack of big, full console releases, but this year is a bit different. Two big games from last year, Mass Effect 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, have seen substantial updates, and they are both available now on Xbox 360.

Starting with Mass Effect 3, BioWare has finally delivered the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut DLC. This add-on is said to bring more “closure” to the ending of the game that left many upset upon release late last year. The free update comes in at 1.9 gigabytes, and is available now in North America for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. If you are so inclined, Polygon has the extended endings in video form.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has received a decidedly bigger content bump in its first substantial expansion pack. Dawnguard comes in at $20, and introduces a whole new quest line allowing players to become a vampire lord or vampire hunter, among many other small additions including the introduction crossbows. Dawnguard is a 30-day exclusive on the Xbox 360, with PS3 and PC releases expected in late July.
