Bioware doctors resign, new IP in development

A new chapter has begun at Bioware – the iconic co-founders/doctors Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk have resigned from the company. Under their leadership, Bioware has created some of the most loved franchise in gaming history, including Baldur’s Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Mass Effect. Both Ray and Greg have left lengthy posts on Bioware’s blog detailing their decisions and both of them make a point to say that they’re leaving the industry for good to pursue other creative endeavors from entrepreneurship to beercrafting.

Bioware Edmonton and Montreal (the studios you’re probably thinking of when you think Bioware, rather than the studios that have simply fallen under the umbrella) General Manager Aaryn Flynn has also left a post that details what Bioware is doing in the wake of this decision – essentially, nothing too different from what they’ve always done. There’s of course the recently announced Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, the next title in the Mass Effect series, and a much more mysterious game listed as such:

• BRAND NEW GAMES FROM BIOWARE – Both Dragon Age and Mass Effect started as single games but grew into vast universes. But we aren’t stopping there. While Casey continues to oversee the development of our new Mass Effect project, he and his leads are putting together their vision for an all new game set in a fictional universe, built from the bottom-up with all new gaming technology.

All new gaming technology sounds a little bit like next-gen console stuff, right?
